Closure of Kaaterskill Falls, Upper Viewing Platform due to COVID-19

Updated: Is Kaaterskill Falls open? Kaaterskill Falls is now open.

Immediately the upper parking areas Molly Smith, Laurel House Road, and Scutt Road will be closed. The trails connecting to the falls and upper viewing platform to the famed Kaaterskill Falls will be closed until further notice. Additionally, the DEC is blocking roads leading to N-S Lake State Campground.

Safety during COVID-19

The NYSDEC and NYS Parks Department have recommended outdoor solitary recreation as part of social distancing. They also recommend doing this close to your home. Many small communities have asked and are discouraging people traveling to their area.
