The Pilot Knob Ridge Preserve is the common name for a 223-acre preserve within the Lake George basin. In 2010 the name was officially changed to The Schumann Preserve at Pilot Knob in honor of the Lake George Land Conservancy’s past executive director, Lynn LaMontagne Schumann. She was instrumental in the land unit preservation.
The Schumann Preserve at Pilot Knob offers the hiker an extraordinary experience with excellent, up-close views of Lake George and the surrounding mountains. Also with a bit more effort, one can visit a wonderful waterfall. Note, the waterfall is seasonal and though active in the spring, it is often dry in late summer and fall.
