Trail leading to Devil's Kitchen Lean-to

Plattekill Mountain is a 3100’ foot peak just about 1.5-miles southeast of Indian Head Mountain. It is also in close proximity with Echo Lake perched NNE of the lake about 0.75-miles as the crow flys. One can spy the lake from a viewpoint with about a 200-300’ descent south of the summit. Mount Sherrill Catskills

On January 19th Rangers responded to a call from a hiker stating that a hiking partner was injured on Mt. Sherrill a trailless peak in the Catskills. The peak is typically climbed as part of membership for the Catskill 3500 Club. The injured hiker was found about 2.5-miles from the trailhead near the summit which has steep terrain on its eastern face.
