On November 4th, 2016 the New York State Department of Conservation (NYSDEC) issued a notice that fishing is now prohibited in parts of the famed 64 mile Esopus Creek due to low water levels. The NYSDEC says all species will be included during this order of suspension and that the low water flow is “creating a stressful environment for trout”.
